NVIDIA has been surprisingly open during the GPU Technology Conference in San Fransisco earlier this week. The company VP Jen-Hsun Huang decided to reveal more about its plans for the mobile processor circuits of the Tegra family, where the third generation is just around the corner.

Jen-Hsun Huang pointed out during a panel discussion that the tablet market is very important and that it can change how the computer users of tomorrow look at the market as a whole. NVIDIA has taken the first step with the Tegra 2 SoC and even if the circuit has had a hard time finding a way out on the market there are several companies that have revealed that the Cortex A9-based circuit will get a place in its future tablet products.

During the discussion Jen-Hsun Huang said that NVIDIA will launch a new model of Tegra annually and that Tegra 3 is almost ready.

By the end of 2010 and starting next year we will see several tablets sporting NVIDIA Tegra 2 inside, but as you know you need more than just power in a tablet to succeed, something NVIDIA and its partners need e.g. Google’s help with, through tablet-optimized operating systems.
