NVIDIA has now started to try and make its first 80nm circuits at both Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). NVIDIA is expected to start the production of its 80nm G73-B1 graphics card at the end of the third quarter and this will be, as far as we know, the first retail card sporting HDMI by the green one. Next in line for the 80nm manufacturing process is the budget circuit G72, but according to DigiTimes there are no plans for introducing the 80nm process with the current G71 circuits as the sheer volume of these doesn’t not justify a new manufacturing process with worse yields. ATI is also expected to introduce its first 80nm products later this year and the question is who will be first.
