Transparency Adaptive AA is the latest antialiasing technology by nVidia and so far it is only available for its GeForce 7800-series. TAAA can be compared to ATi’s new Adaptive AntiAliasing-technology(AAA), as both are developed for making antialiasing work with textures using alpha data (transparency). Some good examples are fences, grass and other effects containing big textures with transparent effects. These can’t be evened out with regular antialiasing, something many has noticed with Half-Life 2 and similar games. TAAA is nVidia’s solution to this problem and at ExtremeTech they’ve taken a closer look at the technology and explains how it works.
