Lucid recently showed it coming multi-GPU chipset Hydra 200, but after the launch of the first motherboard was postponed by MSI there were rumors that NVIDIA had tried to throw spanners at Lucid. Our own sources informed us that NVIDIA had nothing to do with the delays. And NVIDIA has now made an official statement welcoming Lucid Hydra Engine.
NVIDIA Product PR Manager Igor Stanek said the following in an e-mail to Fudzilla:
“We (Nvidia) welcome Lucid to the market. We do believe that NVIDIA SLI is the best multi GPU solution, and we work hard to meet gamers’ expectations that SLI solutions deliver great performance. Despite unfounded rumors, we have not done anything to disable Lucid’s technology. “
This isn’t just good news for Lucid but also consumers who can enjoy more options in the future. If there is any foul play we don’t know of is of course up for discussion, but NVIDIA can’t really afford clashing with consumers again, and trying to interfere with the launch of Lucid’s Hydra Engine could have cost them dearly.
