Nvidia launched its first graphics card with dual GPUs in several years last spring. GeForce GTX 590 turned out to be used as powerful as we had hoped, but the battle with Radeon HD 6990 from AMD was tighter than expected. New rumors say that Nvidia will put an end to all discussions and launch a new faster model of GeForce GTX 595.

Rumors of a GeForce GTX 595 have been circulating for long, but the latest comes from game convention Gamescom 2011 and the story has resurfaced.

According to a Slovenian gaming site that peaked under the hood of one of the demo computers that powered the longed-for action game Battlefield 3 there were two not yet launched Nvidia graphicscards, both sporting dual GPUs.

According to Somua.net the two graphics cards could be identified as GeForce GTX 595 and used special drivers to chissel out the bugs and optimize performance in Electronic Arts’ coming game. Eactly how the new graphics card is different from the old one was never mentioned, but turned up clock frequencies and optimized power supply would probably be enough to reach the goal of sole supremacy for a couple of months.

If this is correct and Nvidia has an updated version of its dual-GPu graphics card in development a launch together with Battlefield 3 would be fitting. We know since earlier that Nvidia is working closely with EA during the development of Battlefield 3, but if this includes a combined game/card launch is unclear.

So far we should consider this with a big pinch of salt, but on October 28th we will at least know if a card comes with Battlefield 3.
