Laser projection is gaining traction in the digital signage, retail, education and visitor attraction markets due to its long lifespan and consistent brightness. In order to address these market demands, the new Canon laser projectors are designed to offer up to 20,000 hours of operation. As there are no filters in the new models, there are minimal maintenance requirements during the projectors’ lifetime. This also reduces the total cost of ownership, providing excellent value for a range of installation environments. The projectors will also be covered by Canon’s Three Year Enhanced Warranty Loan Service.
Projecting at a maximum brightness of 8,000 and 6,800 lumens, the two new laser projectors offer a broad colour gamut and crisp colour fidelity thanks to the newly designed four segment colour wheel and blue laser light source. To meet the needs of a variety of projection environments, the projectors will also feature adjustable brightness by varying the light source power between 20%-100% for the 8,000 lumen LX-MU800Z and between 35%-100% for the 6,800 lumen LX-MU600Z. Both projectors will feature dynamic black technology, which, when enabled, automatically adjusts contrast in real-time and increases the contrast ratio from 1,050:1 to 10,500:1 to produce more vivid dark scenes.
The new projectors aim to provide versatility to installers and integrators with a variety of flexible set-up options:
- Geometry adjustment and digital 4-point keystone adjustment (V: ±40%, H: ±60%) means that images can be projected onto a variety of flat and curved surfaces, and can be easily adjusted to optimise display quality
- 360 degree setup allows projection in portrait orientation when supported by a compatible mount
- HDBaseT and 3G-SDI compatibility supports the transmission of high definition content over long distances and provides installers with a greater range of installation options
Canon will commercialise the LX-MU800Z and the LX-MU600Z in the second half of 2016. These additions to Canon’s projector line-up will address the increasingly diverse needs of the AV market.
