TV network ABC will test a new method to get more viewers, as it has now announced that for a two month period, starting in May, will make four of its most popular TV series available for download. The four shows are Lost, Alias, Commander in Chief and Desperate Housewives. They will release the episodes the day after the show was broadcast on TV and they will be completely free of charge. The downloadable videos will contain commercials that you will not be able to fastforward through though. The test period for two months is to evaluate other ways of supplying the viewers with the material they might miss during the regular air time and make it possible to watch the series with both computers and portable units.

”None of us can live in a world of just one business model. This is about the consumer, and how the consumers use all this new technology. It’s consumer first, business model second.”

This is truly an interesting move that, if nothing else, proves that the movie/TV industry is really trying to meet the ever rising demand for digital entertainment. We haven’t received any information regarding resolution, image quality or such and we don’t know whether the show will be available to any other than the Americans.
