Component maker ASUS has presented an interesting solution for its mini-ITX boards and the users that haven’t found the optimal case just yet. ASUS has an idea of shipping its Mini-ITX boards in a box that can also be used as a case, with room for an optical drive, harddrive and ventilation holes.

The mini-ITX cases are pretty Spartan, but should last for at least a year according to the company, which should be enough time to find a real and more permanent case.

A clever idea, albeit not unique, that could prove both convenient and environmental as the packaging material comes to use even after the product has been unboxed. The new boxes will start shipping in June with at least one of the mini-ITX motherboards.
