ATI Radeon X1900 in January with 48 pixel shaders

Radeon X1900 will be ATI’s reply to NVIDIA’s GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB and it working hard on gettting its R580 based graphic circuits ready asap. The latest information states that we will see a launch alread in January. According to Anandtech they will launch two separate models of the card, one ”Crossfire ready” and one ”Master Card”. In other words the X1900 series will require a special Master card to work in a Crossfire configuration. The card will both have higher frequencies at GPU and memory, but the perhaps most interesting is that the number of Shader processors will be 48 with X1900, compared to 16 with X1800.

These are not complete pipelines though and it still has 16 texture units exactly how much more performance the extra shader processors will add remains to see.
