Lexar, a subsidiary of Micron, has announced its first high-end DDR3 memory in the shape of Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 (parts nr. BL2KIT12864BA1608 and BL12864BA1608). Since Lexar is a subsidiary of Micron the Ballistix modules use all Micron components, and right now this is a very good thing, because the current Micron chips are highly sought-after by third-party memory manufacturers. These modules come with 8-8-8-20 timings, but we know that they are capable of a lot more. The operating voltage is 1.8 V, which has to be considered standard for DDR3-1600 modules, and it’s more than possible to feed them even more voltage for some additional overclocking.

The modules should become available very soon.
