EVGA is currently one of NVIDIA’s most important partners and as the company is rare to see around these parts we envy those who can get them. EVGA has been one to favor the enthusiasts and it has now announced no less than six graphics cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 400 series, where two appeal more than the rest. EVGA GeForce GTX 480/470 Hydro Copper FTW sports a water block from Swiftech to remedy one the biggest problems of the Fermi  architecture.

During our own tests of GeForce GTX 480 we had no trouble hitting triple digits (Celsius that is) and since the cards have been designed to throttle at 105 degrees Celsius we can’t help thinking this is not exactly an optimal situation.

EVGA claims that the efficient water block will lower GPU temperatures by 50 degrees for GTX 480 and 30 degrees for GTX 470, which sounds very impressive since the clock frequencies have been raised too.

EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper FTW – 650 USD
– 750MHz GPU – 3800MHz GDDR5

EVGA GeForce GTX 470 Hydro Copper FTW – 500 USD
– 650MHz GPU – 3400MHz GDDR5

The prices are not the most appealing, but those with a water cooling system ready to deploy this could be a very interesting solution.
