Swizz scientists have now managed to create a display that changes color built on a polymer that in turn changes shape depending what voltage you use. The scientists says that as regular displays are unable to reproduce the entire spectrum of light, this method will. They’ve built arrays of 10 pixels, 80 µm wide, where each pixel consists out of a polymer with ridges covered in gold. When with light shines on the polymer it is reflected out and is split into different wavelengths through diffraction. A slit above the polymer makes sure only the wanted light escapes. Right now they’re working on improving the technology and above all reduce the voltage needed.
