GeForce 6800 GS is the latest mystical nVidia ciruits we’ve been hearing about. Just a few days ago we heard rumours about and saw traces of GeForce 7800 GS in nVidia’s own drivers. But now X-bit Labs posts that nVidia will launch a GeForce 6800 GS circuit. Whether these are two seperate products or just misunderstandings is hard to tell but according to X-bit Labs 6800 GS is suppose to be a reply to ATi’s Radeon X1600 XT which will arrive in about a month. That the GS-circuit is suppose to compete with X1600 XT is sounds pretty logical, but at the same it sounds weird that nVidia won’t use the GeForce 7-platform.

No matter what X-bit Labs claims that 6800 GS will use 12 pipelines and work at 425MHz/1000MHz. The most interesting is that the circuit will use the same PCB as GeForce 7800 GT. The price of the card will be about 200 USD when it arrives next month.
