Intel will through its VD Paul Otellini announce a completely new processor arcitecture during Intel Developer Forum August 23rd. The new arcitecture will be the foundation of Intel’s coming desktop, notebook and server processors. Despite the fact that the arcitecture is brand new much have been borrowed from the old P6-arcitecture. An arcitecture which its Pentium M processors has already borrowed a lot from. Right now the guesses include an updated versino of the Pentium M with added support for 64-bit and better floating point performance. The new processors will make it easier for Intel to pack more cores on to the same chip and keep the power consumption low, which has been a big problem so far.
