Intel will according to unconfirmed sources stop producing 7 of their Pentium 4 processors with support for EM64T (64-bit). Far from any old models, the youngest was actually released as late as January 2005. The models affected by this is Intel’s 5xx-serie, Pentium 4 3.20 GHz, 3.20F GHz, 3.40 GHz, 3.40F GHz 3.60 GHz, 3.60F GHz and 3.80F GHz. This is most likely to make way for their newer 6xx-series (Prescott with 2MB L2-cache and NX bit). But it is quite interesting that they had such a short lifespan.
