LaCie SAFE Mobile is a series of external harddrives we’ve looked at earlier and as the name suggests it’s a harddrive packing security functions. The most excelling feature is the fingerprint reader used to unlock the drive. LaCie has now launched new models of SAFE Mobile, which now supports hardware encryptions like DES and Triple-DES in all their models. In other words you first need a registered user’s fingerprint, then a 24 character long password to get by the 56/128-bit encryption systems. A very interesting product for those who likes to keep their data private.
