ATI’s memory controller for the X1000 series is as you perhaps know a very advanced such and that ATI’s new graphic card would be able to sport 1GB graphic memory sounded pretty impressive, yet expensive. However now it has turned out that 1GB isn’t the limit of what ATI’s graphic circuit can handle and not something NVIDIA is having trouble following. NVIDIA’s NV40/NV45 and G70 based circuits are namly capable of addressing up to 2GB graphic memory and information states that NVIDIA already has made graphic card with a 2GB memory buffert. These are suppose to be special orders of its workstation card Quadro and will hardly be used with any regular gaming computer.
