During the Hot Chips conference at Stanford Universitet nVidia’s chief researcher David Kirk spoke about the future, a future that will bring more and more parallel working circuits such as multi-core processors. The hardware market is becoming more and more parallel but the software and programming is having problems keeping up according to David Kirk. This might result in a crisis if research and education don’t focus more on parallel programmering than it does today. If there is no software-support for the new circuits the development will be a failure and the progress will be halted.
