Powercolor has officially launched the first graphics card using two AMD Tahiti XT graphics circuits. Powercolor Devil13 HD7990 is a direct response to Nvidia GeForce GTX 690, and Powercolor has left not stone unturned to create the fastest graphics card possible.

Powercolor has used two fully featured Tahiti XT circuits with 2048 Radeon and 3 GB memory each, for a total of 6 GB GDDR5 memory clocked at 5500 MHz. Both graphics circuits operate at 925 MHz, the same as Radeon HD 7970, but also has a GHz-BIOS that will pull up the frequencies to an even 1 GHz. This means the circuits will keep the same tempo as AMD’s reference version of the flagship Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition.

Powercolor Devil13 HD7990 has a theoretic computational performance of 8198 GFLOPS and a memory bandwidth of 528 GB per second through its two 384-bit memory buses.

The graphics card builds on a custom PCB where Powercolor has added powerful components to enable 16 phases 12+2+2), digital PWM circuits, three 8-pin PCIe power connectors (over 500 watt capacity), high quality capacitors and overall strong components to keep the card stable. Devil13 has been equipped with a cooler to match all of this,, with three large fans and 10 copper heatpipes to keep the two graphics circuits and surrounding components cool. Do note the cooler will need at least three expansion slots.

To round off the package Powercolor has added a small toolbox from Wiha with screwdrivers and Powercolor PowerJack – a case support for the card. The video outputs include two DVI, HDMI and two mini-DisplayPorts.

Powercolor Devil13 HD7990 is according to the maker not only the first, but the only graphics card on the market with two Tahiti XT circuits. If this means AMD has simply given up its own plans for a graphics card with two Tahiti circuits of it is a just play on words we don’t know for sure. Powercolor has not revealed the price of Devil13 HD7990, but we woudl estimate it will cost just as much as the competitor GeForce GTX 690.
