Snapdragon is one of the best known ARM processors available today and it can be found in several high-profile smatphones and smartbooks. Manufacturer Qualcomm has raised the bar and not only increased the clock frequency but also also inserted a second core.

Qualcomm MSM8260 and MSM8660 operate at 1.2 GHz, up from 1.0 GHz, and beside the two cores there is also an integrated GPU capable of playing and recording video up to 1080p resolution. The SoCs also sport integrated GPS and its own audio engine, and monitors support for up to 1280×800 pixels.

As previously revealed Qualcomm has an even faster model coming where the two cores operate at 1.5 GHz, but so far it’s uncertain when the new 1.2 GHz circuits will be available in mass production products, even less the faster model.
