Small preview imageRadeon X1900 is better known as R580 and is expected to be ATI’s reply to NVIDIA’s extreme GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB graphic card. The Chinese site HKEPC seems to have been able to take a picture of ATI’s latest creation and with that it has posted some goodie-goodie information as well. First of all you can see that the R580 circuit is considerably larger than the R520 circuit which clearly indicates that there is more than just higher frequencies we are dealing with here. Whether ATI has really been able to squeeze 48 pixel processors in to the core, which rumours state, is hard to say though. Radeon X1900 XTX will be the high end version of the family and will be clocked at 650MHz GPU and 1550MHz memory. Very high, but not much of an improvement compared to X1800 XT.

There is most liekly more than that that has been added to the core that will improve performance perhaps even more than the small increase in frequency. Today’s information state that the circuit will be launched on January 26 and apparently the final specifications hasn’t been decided yet, which could mean the card will be delayed.
