Samsung has announced that it has started mass producing its 1.8″ 64GB Solid State Drive. The SSD is based on Samsung’s own 51nm NAND flash memory circuits, and this means that Samsung will actually have 64GB SSDs commercially available soon. It’s 32GB drive has already been used in some of its products (laptops and UMPCs), but also by other companies. We reckon that the new 64GB SSD will replace the older 32GB SSD in many of these cases. Samsung namely says in its press release that the new harddrive is designed mainly for the mobile market and laptops especially. It’s nice to see a manufacturer that actually delivers SSDs, not just launches them and then we never hear from them again.
