Sapphire is one of the first graphics card-manufacturers to launch a X800 XL-based graphic card with 512MB a.k.a. Sapphire Hybrid Radeon X800XL 512MB. The amount of memory that is actually needed by today’s graphic cards is a highly debated subject and at Beyond3D they’ve taken a closer look at Sapphire’s X800XL-card to find out how much of a difference there really is. We can dismiss Gainward’s GeForce 6200-card with 512MB memory as a simple PR-trick, alas 512MB memory doesn’t seem ot be of any use for even a fast circuit as Radeon X800XL. Thus investing in a card with 512MB today is simply a waste of money.
