The format wars keeps going between HD DVD and Blu-ray and right when you think you understand new things happened. As we start to hear rumours about Sony and Toshiba having meetings and a possible united front Toshiba announces a HD DVD disc at 45GB, this by using three writeable layers on the same disc. The disc will be ”read only” but with this move HD DVD more or less has eliminated the biggest advantage with Blu-ray, namely the storage capacity. If this is just a way to scare Sony or if they really are going for their own HD DVD format remains to see. We just want this circus to end and that we the consumers don’t end up the losers.
