AMD has taken a firm grip of the mid-range segment with its Radeon HD 6800 series but NVIDIA is standing up well with its very capable GTX 460 graphics card. For those who craves more than a single GF104 GPU, Zotac has the solution with a dual GPU version coming, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 460X2.

Zotac has extended the PCB quite a lot, not just to fit two GeForce GTX 460 GPUs but also a bigger power supply and NF200 bridge chip that makes the two circuits work together.

Each GPU is fed by 3+1 phases and on the back of the card we also find a prodalizer capacitor. The graphics card comes with dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors and around the GPUs we find 2GB GDDR5 memory.

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 460X2 relies on NVIDIA’s fine SLI scaling and with two GF104 circuits it has a lot of power at its disposal. When Zotac will launch the card, and to what price, is uncertain. What we do know is that dual-GPU cards are up to each partner to fix, as NVIDIA is in the middle of getting its GeForce GTX 580 ready to counter AMD Cayman and Radeon HD 6970.
