OCZ is currently working on broadening its assortment with a phase change cooler similar to the Vapochill series from Danish Asetek. OCZ’s equivalent is known as Cryo-Z and even if the cooler hasn’t been launched yet it seems to be coming to stores soon. At The Inquirer they’ve some across a sample of the compressor cooler and tested the unit with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ processor which according to them isn’t a very good overclocker. Despite that they managed to push the processor to 3.52GHz stable, which has to be considered an OK overclocking considering the stock frequency is only 2.6GHz.

OCZ Cryo-Z was capable of keeping a temperature of -22°C during these tests and present some rigorous cooling capacity. The key to Cryo-Z success will be the price though. OCZ has been aiming for a price at 199 USD and if they will be able to stick to this Cryo-Z will certainly become a very affordable cooler for enthusiasts and overclockers.
