OCZ PC2-8000 Gold XTC DDR2 is the latest addition to the memory war between OCZ and Corsair where they constantly launch new products to trump the other. Corsair launched two new models yesterday, among others a 1066MHz 1GB DDR2 module. Unfortunately it didn’t mention any latencies, which is an important part of the performance, but that has OCZ revealed for its new 1000MHz modules and as expected they are not very aggressive. At 1000MHz the memory is specified at 5-6-6-15 latencies, which is hardly lightning fast.
OCZ PC2-8000 Gold XTC DDR2 is available as both 512MB and 1GB modules and can as usual be bought separately and as dual channel kits. The DDR2 frequencies keeps to rise, but it seem Corsair is still in the lead with its 1066MHz, if anyone cares.
