OCZ Technology has announced a new member of its PCI Express based storage series RevoDrive. OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid is different from its siblings as it not only offers great SSD performance, but it also has a mechanical drive mounted on the circuit board for 1TB of storage, without the price spinning out of control.
OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid is a storage unit that slides into an available PCI Express 2.0 slot. RevoDrive Hybrid requires at keast PCIe x4, but by circumventing the SATA inteface it can proudly boast some really impressive performance figures.
OCZ claims RevoDrive Hybrid with its PCI Express interface can bring up to 910 MB/s and 120,000 IOPS at random 4K files.
OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid specifications
- 1TB capacity
- 100GB SSD, 1TB 5400 RPM HDD
- Sequential read speed: 910 MB/s
- Sequential write speed: 810 MB/s
- Power consumption load: 10W
The unit sports 100GB SSD and 2.5″ mechanical drive at 1TB. Through the bundled Dataplex caching software RevoDrive Hybrid is working close to Intel’s Smart Response Teknik. Frequently used data is stored on the SSD, while the harddrive takes over for the less frequently accessed files to optimize performance at regular use. OCZ says it has advanced caching algorithms to make sure this works as good as possible.
“The RevoDrive Hybrid leverages the best attributes of both solid state drives and traditional hard drive technology to deliver dynamic data-tiering on a single easy to deploy PCIe storage drive. Leveraging Dataplex software to efficiently manage frequently accessed data delivers superior performance and capacity, making the RevoDrive Hybrid the ideal solution for high performance computing and media content creation, sa Ryan Petersen, vd på OCZ Technology, i ett pressmeddelande
OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid will be in stores shortly and cost around 440€ and is covered by 3 years warranty.
