Opera’s VP aborts his attempt to swim to USA

We earlier reported on the statement Opera’s VP Jon S. von Tetzchner made before the release of their new browser Opera 8. If they had more than 1 milion downloads in less than 4 days von Tetzchner would try to swim from Norway to the USA and on the way stop to say hi to his mother in Island. And of course they managed to do this and since then we’ve gotten status reports from Opera on von Tetzchner’s progress. Although the latest report states that the swim had to be aborted due to the fact that Opera’s PR-manager, that was following the swim on a rubber float, almost drowned. Opera has clearly managed with their campaign for Opera 8 and their reports on von Tetzchner’s swim is if not entirely truthful at least very amuzing.
