Opteron vs. Xeon on THG Earlier during this easter, Xbit labs got it’s preview on Athlon64 but now it’s time for the big boys to enter the scene. AMD’s Opteron is going to face Intel’s Xeon (and to some extent also Itanium of course). Tom’s Hardware has taken a peak at the new processors from AMD and it’s easy to notice that they have gotten a pretty exclusive review. The page is changing in slow motion at the moment. In Linux the results look pretty promising, especially with a 64 bits. But when we start up Windows XP 32 bit edition the results look pretty whimpish and Opteron is not seldomly placed in one of the lower rankings.
