Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 is since a few weeks back the fastest PC processor on the market and Intel’s Core architecture has turned out to offer some impressive performance and this despite its low power consumption. This combination, together with Intel’s well tested 65nm manufacturing process, has turned out to be a winning concept for overclockers and enthusiasts. We’ve reported at several occasions about our own and others overclocking records using Intel’s new processors and the time has come to dig deeper into this. Our overclocking guru Robert “crotale” Kilhberg has, just as in his previous articles, laid his hands upon an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 and overclocked this processor with various cooling setups to see what results you can achieve using Intel’s new flagship. “This is our third detailed overclocking article here at NordicHardware and we will thoroughly dissect Intel’s top model, Core 2 Extreme X6800, in the same manner as we’ve done with AMD’s FX-57 and Intel’s Pentium 4 660. As usual we will use a number of different cooling solutions ranging from regular air cooling to more extreme compressor setups.”
