Även om Intel släpps nya LGA 1156 styrkretsar är Intel P55 en mycket intressant plattform för de mer krävande användarna där integrerad grafik inte står lika högt på prioritetslistan. Det är just detta produktfokus MSI satsar på med sitt P55-GD85 där man givetvis stödjer Intels senaste 32nm processorer men samtidigt fokuserar på överklockning och inte minst hög prestanda med USB 3.0 samt SATA 6Gbps gränssnitten, detta med en dedikerad PLX PCI-E brygga som ger full bandbredd utan att norpa prestanda från grafikkort eller andra komponenter i systemet.

P55-GD85 offers full speed USB3 and SATA3


Without performance bottlenecks which competitors offer


World renowned mainboard, vga, and notebook manufacturer MSI presents its P55-GD85 mainboard for Intel latest 32nm process and LGA1156 packaged Core i3 / i5 / i7 series CPU. In addition, the mainboard is built-in with SATA 6Gb/s and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 protocols and each has 2X and 10X ultra-high data transmission bandwidths respectively than their predecessors. OC Genie, SuperPipe and DrMOS and tons of other features.


Support SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 via bandwidth effectively PLX chip
MSI P55-GD85 Mainboard is specially built in with Marvell and NEC chips to provide SATA 6Gb/s and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 support, which gives ultra-high transmission bandwidth as high as 6Gb/s and 5G/bs.



The MSI P55-GD85 is without any bottlenecks in the performance because unlike other competitor solutions MSI is using a PLX PCI-E bridge chip to multiply the PCI-E bandwidth as well as most effective distribution when using the functions of SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 functions.


Some competitors claim to offer SATA3 and USB3 on their new P55 products except they don’t use a PLX chip. Without this PLX chip they suffer from crippled PCI-E x16 VGA performance because it only runs on x8 speed on their boards.

SuperPipe: world’s thickest heatpipe (8mm)
Efficient cooling technology for mainboards becomes critical as it determines the board’s overclocking ability and stability. MSI SuperPipe is 60% thicker than traditional pipes and therefore the world’s thickest heatpipe (8mm, which offers the best heat dissipation in the market.


DrMOS: the best performance per watt
MSI has been equipping DrMOS since the introduction of its P45 mainboards. DrMOS technology combines a Driver IC, a Top MOSFET and a Bottom MOSFET into one chip. The shorter distance between every component provides 4 times faster phase switching speed and over 90% better power efficiency. Basically, DrMOS offers the best performance per watt.


V-Kit
The feature can help with saving valuable time during advanced overclocking by eliminating the need for manual circuit modification. Users can measure the CPU and RAM voltages with a multimeter on the implemented V-Check Points. MSI P55-GD85 is also equipped with a V-Switch which removes the voltage limitations. In this way users can measure and increase the voltages. These combined features can be very important during overclocking competitions.


Direct OC & Easy Button 2
Direct OC is an attractive feature for extreem overclockers. By pressing the +/- buttons, users can real-time adjust the CPU frequency. APS power-saving technology
MSI P55 is aimed to fit consumers’ demand for power saving and therefore are equipped with APS (Active Phase Switching). APS switches the number of power phases corresponding to the needs of the CPU load and is OS independent. With fewer phases the system works more power efficient at lower CPU loads.
