Panasonic has now released a new series of laptops in its ToughBook family and the heart of the systems are not entirelly unexpected Intel’s new Core Duo processor. This tends for powerful performance, but it’s not just the inside of the new computers that impress. Panasonic has, as usual, with its ToughBook computers designed them to be as durable as possible. Its Letsnote CF-Y5 is suppose to be able to handle up to 100 kilos of pressure and comes with a system to protect the motherboard, harddrive and other copmonents from any fluids that could find its way into the computer. Hardly a completely waterproof computer, but still very resistant.

Letsnote CF-Y5 is currently available in Japan (thus the Japanese Letsnote name) and costs about $2,300. Under the well protected shell you can find the following:

“The Letsnote CF-Y5 notebook offers a 1.5 GHz Intel L2300 Core Duo processor, a 14.1-inch 1,400 by 1,050 pixel display, up to 1 GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g wireless networking, up to 60 GB hard disk storage, built-in Ethernet, a DVD burner, a PC slot, SD expansion, and VGA output.”
