XFX GeForce 7950 GT 570M Extreme is the name of a high-end card with a somewhat unusual cooling. The card is namely completely passively cooled through heatpipes and large heatsinks. The most obvious advantage is of course that you will not have to deal with noise from small whining fans, something we’ve all learned to dislike rather a lot by now. In the true spirit of XFX the card is still slightly overclocked when comparing to NVIDIA’s reference, even if the difference is far from staggering. The core runs at 570MHz and the memory at 1460MHz. Although you need a good air flow through your case for such a powerful graphics card to work with a passive cooling.
The results show that the card performs slightly better than NVIDIA’s reference, not surprisingly, and that the temperatures are held at bay by the large cooler. Overclocking is not an option though.
