Phenom 8000 series is perhaps better known as the world’s first tri-core processors. The series is expected to arrive during the first quarter, and will fill the void(?) between dual-cores and quad-cores. As we’ve told you before, they will be of the B2 stepping and run at frequencies up to 2.3GHz, which also shows in the screenshots posted over at VR-Zone. Phenom 8600 runs at 2.3 GHz, sports 2MB L3 cache, 1.5MB L2 cache, while the 8400 model runs at 2.1GHz. Just like the current Phenom 9000 lineup, these have a slightly lower northbridge frequency than the review samples, 1.8GHz instead of 2.0GHz.
Phenom 8000 processors using the B3 stepping are expected later this year, but first of all we should see a refresh of the Phenom 9000 series.
