Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition to the C3 stepping just recently. The new stepping brings some interesting functions, but also lower power consumption and better overclocking. Hardwareaholic Jonas “Mean Machine” Klar has been playing around with AMD’s latest processor for a bit and using liquid nitrogen he was able to hit some pretty impressive frequencies.
Starting at stock frequency of 3.4GHz Jonas managed to get a screenshot of the processor operating at 6678MH, and run some benchmarks. Including SuperPi 1M which took 10.342 seconds to complete at 6.66GHz.
More results and screenshots from Jonas escapades in the magical overclocking kingdom can be found in the forum. You can count on AMD’s new Phenom processor making more appearances the week to come. Liquid nitrogen will play a role then as well, but there will also be a second so far secret ingredient.
