Hitachi has ealier sold 1″ harddrivse to Apple to be used with its iPod Minis but now that Apple has launched iPod Nano Hitachi has had to find new customers. One the new seems to be Philips who is planning on launching a series of durable mini-harddrives based on Hitachi’s 1″-drives. Philips SPD5400CC will use Hitachi’s 1″ hadrives with 6GB and 10GB capacity and the external harddrive will be powered completely by the USB2.0-port. The USB-port will supply enough power to make it spin 3600 RPM and make transferrates up to 10MB/s possible. By usig software from Nero you will be able to do synchonise and do backups automatically. The 6GB-version will be launched in October while the 10GB-version won’t arrive until the mid of next year. Source: EverythingUSB
