Solid State Drive maker and innovator PhotoFast has launched its first 3.5″ SSD. One might wonder if there is anything special about the 3.5″ format, and in this case it is. PhotoFast G-Monster 3.5 RAID5 WorkStation Edition is something really sweet. First of all it sports read and write speeds at 270MB/s, which is as high as the SATA II interface allows in practice.
This is backed by 2TB storage capacity. To achieve this G-Monster use an internal RAID array, but not only for performance but also security. With an internal RAID 5 controller the drive may look like pretty much any harddrive in the operative system, but in reality you got both a nice boost and security through the RAID 5 technology.
PhotoFast was rather quiet when it comes to the price of the drive, and if the name didn’t already lead you on when it comes to the target consumer we can tell you it’s not for us but the business power users.
