The SSD market is continuously raising the performance bar for storage units. Regular retail drives with Solid State Drive technology can be had with up to 200MB/s transfer rates and the really fast SATA models can reach up to 260MB/s. Lately more and more companies have developed specialized storage solutions based on SSD storage technology. Last we reported on the DDRdrive that uses both NAND Flash and DRAM for impressive IOPS performance.

Storage manufacturer PhotoFast has presented a Solid State Drive that whips most drives on the market. Like Fusion-IO but perhaps even more alike OCZ Z-Drive PhotoFast has tied a bunch of NAND flash memory circuits to a PCI-Express card that together with an advanced memory controller with 256MB DDR2 cache offers breathtaking performance.

Via a PCI-Express x8 port PhotoFast G-Monster-Promise SSD will offer both read and write speeds in the range of 1000MB/s, which makes OCZ Z-Drive look really pale. PhotoFast delivers its new super-SSD at four different capacities; 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

Prices start at $1600 for the 128GB model while the flagship costs no less than $4500, which is just another “feature” that makes other drives look pale in comparison.
