There have been talks about two versions of AMD’s dual-GPU graphics card Hemlock. Something that has been strengthened by leaks from AMD’s presentations and information in drivers. As you may remember the new Hemlock series is expected to be named Radeon HD 5900 and the flagship we have reported on the most will be called Radeon HD 5970. More pictures and details surrounding little brother, dual-GPU equivalent to Radeon HD 5850, have surfaced.
The graphics card sport dual Cypress GPUs that according to this early information will ship with 1440 stream processors, just like the GPU of Radeon HD 5850. The two Cypress GPUs are cooled by an ORB cooler each, with aluminum fins and big heatpipes for keeping the temperatures relatively low.
This is still unconfirmed, we don’t know for sure that AMD is preparing a Radeon HD 5950 card for retail launch. Radeon HD 5970 is expected to arrive in a week or so, but alone. Whether Radeon HD 5950, which we can only assume it will be called if it’s real, remains an engineering sample or really appear in stores remains to be seen.
