Pioneer BDR 101A and Sony BWU-100A are two of the first Blu-ray burners for PCs. Both are thus of the first generation and supports write speeds up to 2x speed. Except from Blu-ray they also support both DVD and CD, and in Sony’s case even DVD-RAM, which might be interesting to some. Even if 2x speed may not sound like much it is actually specified to 72Mbps (9MB/s) and is also capable of reading at these speeds, which is a must though as a movie requires at least 54Mbps to work. The fact is that Pioneer BDR 101A is very close to living up to the theoretic write speed as it reaches a speed of 68 Mbps.
