Word is going around that Pioneer is about to stop production of plasma display panels altogether. Pioneer is already said to have stopped producing sub-42″ panels, and by the looks of it, the remaining sizes are about to follow. Pioneer is looking into getting sub-46″ panels from Matsushita (Panasonic) instead, and even though Pioneer is speerheading the development of plasma TVs, profitability is a problem. It looks like Pioneer is planning to out-source all production to other companies. Pioneer is expected to make announcement this Friday.
