We’ve received some information about the coming PlayStation 3 firmware v1.8 update. v1.8 makes it possible to play PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games at 1080p. This upscaling also applies to DVD movies, but only via the HDMI interface. The new update also introduces Remote Play, which means that no matter where you are, you will be able to access your PS3 through your PlayStation Portable (after updating it to firmware v3.5 which will be released later in May). On top of all that, PS3 will also be DLNA compatible (Digital Living Network Alliance). This makes is possible for PS3 to play material stored on other DLNA devices, for example your computer. The update will be released tomorrow.
