It seems that Plextor is sizing down its business model a bit as it will no longer be offering any kind of storage media; neither CDs nor DVDs. Plextor has been offering high-quality discs from Taiyo Yuden under its own brand, and these have received some quite good reviews in the past. Plextor’s decision to cut the storage media division is a step in making the Plextor brand more profitable for the mother company Shinano Kenshi. Plextor is a relatively small brand overall with focus on high-quality devices, but it seems that this hasn’t been enough to motivate the buyers. A while back there was rumors of even more severe reductions of the Plextor brand, but as far as we know this is all for now.
