Plextor has launched a new superfast external Blu-ray burner that use the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface to reach write speeds up to 54 MB/s with support for 12x Blu-ray media. Plextor PX-LB950UE comes in a clean-cut case with black piano paint that shouldn’t disturb the ambiance.
PlextorPlextor PX-LB950UE connects to your computer through either USB 3.0 or eSATA, both are interfaces that can handle the high dataspeeds required to write Blu-ray media at 12x speed. DVD discs are burned at 16x speed and there is of course also support for the antique CD format. With 8MB memory buffer and a system for minimizing vibrations the unit will be both quick and quiet.
Plextor ships the external optical drive with its own software package called PlexUtilities that can be used to optimize burns and performance for different storage media. Plextor PX-LB950UE also supports LightScribe for etching pictures or text into your discs.
Plextor ships the unit with two year warranty and costs around 180€.
