Sybas Technology has announced that as the first company that makes stationary media player it supports the file format Matroska 3D, MK3D. Sybas is well known for its popular Popcorn players and the new 3D capable firmware update targets Popcorn Hour and PopBox.
Popcorn Hour C-200 is the first to support Matroska 3D, the updated firmware being available today. Sybas says it is working on updates for its A-200/210 models and the previously mentioned PopBox.
Through the new update the media players can offer stereoscopic 3D in both “side by side” and “top to bottom” from movies stores in popular containers like MK3D, MOV, MP4 and M2TS. There are still little 3D material available, but Sybas expects a stready growth over the coming months.
“We took a look at the most popular playback formats and found that 3D was one of them. We put together our engineering resources and now have one of the best 3D playback devices on the market.”
Beside stereoscopic 3D in the media player you will need a compatible 3DTV, also a market that is expected to grow in 2011.
