Picking power supply can be become quite a venture since this is a market most people don’t have the same grasp on as for example the graphics card market. BeHardware has now come across some statistics for 7 manufacturers (FSP/Fortron, Hiper, Seasonic, ThermalTake, Tagan, Enermax and Antec) and statistics for their power supply quality. Not surprising we find FSP at the top (0.7%), but those who follow are perhaps not as expected; Hiper (1.2%), Seasonic (1.4%) and ThermalTake (1.6%) which all have more than acceptable failure rates. To the next there is a gap and there we find Tagan (2.8%), Enermax (3.0%) and above all Antec (9.5%!!) which fail to keep an even quality.
There are some great deviations of every manufacturer’s assortment though, as some models display a lot higher failure rates than others.
More information about (some) models and the manufacturers’ internal variation can be found at BeHardware
