While AMD’s and Nvidia’s new generation of graphics cards are nowhere to be found PowerColor has updated its line of Radeon HD 6000 models with a new flagship in the Radeon HD 6900 series. PowerColor Devil 13 HD6970 comes with its own custom PCB with 12 phase power supply, a more powerful cooler and a matching screwdriver and bit set.
PowerColor Devil 13 HD6970 looks to be a direct attempt to counter the enthusiasts cards from Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI. Devil 13 is built a custom PCB where PowerColor has made room for 12 power phases, but also measuring spots for voltages and diods for GPU status.
Among the components we find prodalizer capacitors, 2GB GDDR5 memory and a big cooler with dual 92mm fans for up to 60% better airflow than regular 80mm fans. The cooler also has four powerful 8mm heatpipes that lead up to a bigger copper base.
PowerColor’s devilish graphics cards ships with standard frequencies for Radeon HD 6970 at 880 MHz GPU and 1375 MHz memory (5500 MHz effectively). Devil 13 also has an overclocking breaker where you can activate the overclocking profile with a GPU frequency at 960 MHz and 1425 MHz (5700 MHz efficiently).
Among the video outputs we find dual DVI-I, HDMI and dual mini-DisplayPort outputs. The graphics card ships with a fitting black and red box and a matching screwdriver set. The price is unknown, but PowerColor Devil 13 HD6970 will be in stores in late October.
