PowerColor has gone all the way with its coming Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. One of the few but often heard complaints is the fairly small memory buffer. You get rather far with 512MB, but when you crank up the resolution it gets rather easy to fill that buffer. Since GDDR3 is plentiful, PowerColor decided to quadruple the memory buffer to make sure that all of the modern games can use as much memory as the may possibly need.
On top of the increased buffer, PowerColor also raised the memory frequency to 2000MHz, and gave the core frequency a slight polish while they were at it, up to 665MHz. To make sure these increased frequencies doesn’t hurt anyone, or the card, PowerColor has installed a ZeroTherm VGA cooler that should do the trick. Price and availability is unknown.
