We have earlier reported about this ambitious and noble project, OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) where the goal is to make a laptop that doesn’t cost more than 100 USD to manufacture. This laptop is intended for children in third world countries as a tool for education and a possibility for these countries to catch up with the rest of the inustrial world. At WorldChanging.com they’ve posted a preview of the prototype Nicholas Negroponte has developed for his project.
We find out about what the current design looks like, how the manufacturing will be done but also how the distribution and similar will be handled so that the project doesn’t go downhill because of some greedy company on the way to the needing children. Some very interesting reading for those who are interested in this super cheap laptop.
